Actually visual feedback is perfect for people who are “tone deaf” – you can play a note on the keyboard, listen and then try to match it by singing. Visually you will see immediately if you’re low, high, or on-pitch. So you can easily “play around” with your voice and gradually learn to associate the aural perception of the sound with the pitch. In essence, the visual feedback helps to build up the feedback between your ear and your voice.
Another issue is that of confidence – if you’re not confident, then it may be that you’re not actually tone deaf but just need a bit of practice. Using Sing & See can help give that confidence – you can SEE that you’re hitting the notes as you listen and sing.
