Sing&See for Mac OS X (Intel)

Many people have been asking when the MacOS version of Sing & See is going to be ready. Well, I've got some good news - it's now ready! At least for people with the newer Intel Macs (read more below).

Does it work the same as the Windows Version?

The Mac version is essentially the same as the Sing & See Professional Version that runs on the PC. There are one or two minor differences (for instance we have removed the toolbar button that opens the recording mixer on the PC, since it doesn't work the same way on the Mac).

In fact, this Mac version of Sing & See actually is a modified version of the Windows software, configured to run on the Mac using a cross-platform program called "CrossOver".

What is "CrossOver"?

CrossOver (www.codeweavers.com) is a special Mac software that wraps itself around Windows programs and "pretends" to be Windows so that they can run on the Mac. This only works on newer Intel Macs, because they use the same internal processing language as on the PC.

What we have done is create a package that includes a fully licensed copy of CrossOver, PLUS a specially modified version of Sing & See Professional that will work in the CrossOver environment. It is thus not "pure" Mac software and won't run on older "G-series" Macs, but otherwise works perfectly well.

The added bonus is that you also receive a fully functioning copy of CrossOver, which allows you to run many Windows applications on your Mac (if you'd want to do that...) without requiring the purchase of a Microsoft Windows licence. Normally this costs $59, but we have managed to get a good deal so that we can package it with Sing & See at no extra cost.

IMPORTANT! This Mac Version only runs on Intel Macs. It will not work on the older Power series of Mac (G5, G4, G3). So please ONLY purchase if you know that your Mac has an Intel CPU inside. Newer iMacs (last 2 years) are ok, as are MacBooks and MacBook Pros. Mac Pro is ok, and also newer Mac minis. Any kind of "Power" Mac are probably not ok

If you are unsure, please check your Mac first - click on the apple icon and select "About This Mac". In the middle of the information panel it will say something like

Processor 2GHz Intel Core Duo

The keyword is Intel. If it doesn't say that then I'm very sorry, this won't work on your machine. Contact us if you are still not sure.

How much does it cost?

We've priced the Mac Version at the same price as the PC version - $139 USD for the Professional Version and $219 for the Teacher's Pack. At present we don't have the Student Version available for the Mac because we need to cover the costs of the CrossOver licence.
